Luggage...
Carry on baggage
NEVER CHECK ANYTHING IN – this is key as the time you spend check-in your language, waiting for it to arrive , and finding it when it is lost is time you will never get back – that is aprox 2.5 hours a week = ~125 hours = 5 days you can do other things with!!
- What size – make sure you get the max possible size to carry on . S ome airlines are more difficult , especially budget airlines or flights between European cities
- Best brands – I like TravelPro and Tumi. I carry a TravelPro roll on and a Tumi briefcase. See the equipment page for more
- Roll on vs. garment bag – The answer is based in how many times a week you need a suit. If you need to carry more then one suit, a garment bag is your best choice. I work with many tech companies do not need to wear suits all week and so I carry a roll on suitcase. I carefully fold my shirts and steam what little wrinkles they get in the shower (turn on the hot water and close the door for about 20-30min)
- Hotel laundry if you are flying in and out of the same location for multiple weeks, many companies will let you have your laundry done at the hotel (it is great!!)
- Leaving luggage at hotels – if you are coming and going from the same city for a few weeks, in many cases you can leave your luggage at the hotel. Traveling with only a handbag is great, gives you more flexibility when waiting to board , as you do not need any overhead space. It also h elps when you are trying to get upgraded (see upgrade section)

Half packed bag
Having an “always half packed” bag really makes it easier to get ready and cuts down forgotten items If you travel more the once a month I recommend having a toiletry kit and sneakers that are for travel only. There is nothing more annoying then forgetting you sneakers and it is really nice not to have to dig through your bag for your tooth brush when you get home late on Thursday.
